Joe grew up on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State surrounded by tall evergreens trees in the heart of Puget Sound and spent a lot of time out on the water.
His father and mother both ran the family business and that entrepreneurial spirit carried over to him. But it wasn't until after 15-years of service in the Army with many trips to far flung places, followed by a few years of other work, did he realize that he needed to pursue loftier goals and to start his own business - but needed more knowledge first. In the summer of 2016 at the age of 36, he left his job and began pursuing his education full-time.
Initially, his education focus was on sustainability but after some soul searching and input from others, he began to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Media Technology at Academy of Art University. This would allow him to explore multiple forms of creativity. He is now scheduled to graduate in 2019.
Even though his education focus changed, it's still very important to him that they reduce their carbon footprint as much as possible.
He currently resides in Vancouver, Washington with his wife Elizabeth and their blended family of 6.
